12 PM – Sewatokwa’tsher’at. THE DISH WITH ONE SPOON, [Director: Dawn Hill] (SIX NATIONS, 2008)
A documentary film overviewing the principles of the Haudenosaunee (Six Nations of the Iroquois) Great Law of Peace and the early arrangements verifying the Six Nations long standing relationships to lands in southern Ontario. The story is told by Haudenosaunee people and explains why they had to take a stand against the development of a housing project on disputed lands adjacent to Six Nations.
1:30 PM – EZLN: 20/10, THE FIRE & THE WORD, [Director: Gloria Munoz], (MEXICO, 2004)***
The film “El Fuego y la Palabra” (Fire and Word) is an oral history that recounts from the beginning of the movement of the Zapatista indigenous communities in the state of Chiapas. Their demands are liberty, justice, democracy, land, health, education, and labor rights. The story is told in the words of some of the original organizers of the movement.
3 PM – VENEZUELA BOLIVARIANA, People & Struggle in the IV World War, [Directed by: Marcelo Andrade Arreaza] (VENEZUELA, 2004)
This documentary depicts the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela as part of the World movement against capitalist globalization. The video shows the development of the Venezuelan people’s movement since the “Caracazo” revolt in 1989, up to the massive actions that helped rescue Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, 48 hours after the military coup that tried to oust him. The plot of the documentary explains how the Bolivarian Revolution, thanks to the incredible power of its popular networks, has become a revolution that goes beyond Venezuelan borders and contributes as an alternative against neo-liberal capitalism.
4:30 PM - LA DIGNIDAD DE LOS NADIES, Stories and Tales of Hope, [Director: Pino Solanas] (ARGENTINA, 2005)
Argentina’s esteemed father of political filmmaking returns with his exploration of the ‘nobodies’ who have been displaced by Argentina’s economic and social policies. This documentary draws its power from the people it meets in the poorest slums, crumbling hospitals and struggling farms. From this unvarnished, grassroots viewpoint, it reveals how people are fighting back, in daily battles or collective confrontations with transnational corporations, with dignity and strength in the face of a daunting socio-economic struggle.

6:45 PM – CALLE SANTA FE, [Director: Carmen Castillo] (CHILE, 2007)
Calle Santa Fé, portrayed in the suburbs of Santiago, Chile, tells the story of Carmen Castillo, as she survives a police raid while her partner, Miguel Enríquez, leader of the Revolutionary Left-Wing Movement (MIR) and of the Resistance against the Pinochet dictatorship, is killed in combat on 5th October 1974. Calle Santa Fé is Castillo’s poignantly personal journey to the homeland she was forced to leave behind, as well as her search for meaning in the struggle against oppression.

9:45 PM – EL DESPOJO (The Pillaging) [Director: Dauno Tótoro] (MAPUCHE NATION, 2004)
The documentary Üxüf Xipay (The Pillaging) talks about the multiple dimensions within the process of organization of the Mapuche People in Southern Chile. This is accomplished in six blocks or thematic unities, covering the struggles and history of the Mapuche People in their plight for the reconstruction, reclamation and liberation of their nation.
